Timotheus Höttges, born in 1962, citizenship German, has been Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom AG since January 2014. From 2009 until his appointment as Chairman of the Board of Management, he was responsible for Finance and Controlling as a member of the Group Board of Management and for the T-Home unit on the Group Board of Management from 2006 to 2009.
Höttges' tenure as Chairman of the Board of Management included the reorganization of Service and the establishment of T-Security as an independent cyber security unit. 2020 saw the merger of T-Mobile US with the provider Sprint in the United States. Höttges focused Deutsche Telekom's business model on convergent fixed-network and mobile offerings as well as network-related products such as television and cloud offerings. Deutsche Telekom's investments increased to EUR 21 billion worldwide at last count. As a result, Deutsche Telekom pushed ahead with the roll-out of 5G and fiber-optics and is achieving the best network quality in each of its key markets. In 2002, Höttges brought the sustainability area under his direct responsibility. Telekom is to be completely climate-neutral by 2040. The operation of the network was switched internationally to renewables in 2022.
After studying business administration at the University of Cologne, Höttges worked for three years in a management consultancy, most recently as project manager. At the end of 1992, he moved to the VIAG Group in Munich, where he was responsible for controlling, corporate planning and mergers and acquisitions from 1997 as divisional manager and later as chief representative. As project manager, he played a key role in the merger of VIAG AG and VEBA AG to form E.on AG, which took effect on September 27, 2000.
